June 2026 car sales: Tata narrowly retains second place over Mahindra
Tata recorded the highest year-on-year growth in June, while Hyundai’s sales declined nearly 10 percent.
ndia’s passenger vehicle market maintained its momentum in June 2026, with most carmakers reporting year-on-year (YoY) growth, although several saw a month-on-month slowdown. Maruti Suzuki retained a comfortable lead in domestic sales, while Tata Motors held on to second place ahead of Mahindra. Hyundai remained fourth, and Toyota rounded off the top five.

Maruti Suzuki remained India’s largest carmaker in June, selling 1,47,187 passenger vehicles, more than double the volume of the second-placed Tata Motors. Utility vehicles such as the Brezza, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, XL6, Jimny, Invicto, Victoris and e Vitara contributed 61,726 units, while the small-car segment, including the Alto, S-Presso, Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Swift and Wagon R, accounted for 75,231 units.
